Antidiuretic hormone is also known as vasopressin ,which regulates the reabsorption of water in the renal tubules. Its important role is to conserve the fluid volume of the body by reducing the amount of water passed out in the urine. Vasopressin is secreted in the response to high serum osmolality or decrease in blood volume . The kidneys respond to antidiuretic hormone by conserving water and producing urine that is concentrated .
